Tandonia cretica (Simroth, 1885)
Tandonia totevi.
Exteral: Resembles Limax in shape; black body, head, and mantle with blue or purplish tint in life; lighter sides; fine body wrinkles; weak, pale keel; cream foot fringe and sole; clear mucus (Wiktor 1987; Wiktor et al 1994).
Internal: Light brown hermaphrodite gland; spermatheca duct longer than spermatheca; epiphallus tubular and narrowing toward its base, sometimes with rows of papillae on outside; inside thick apical section of epiphallus is a complex system of pits, and inside thinner basal section of epiphallus is longitudinal folds; constriction between epiphallus and penis, with fine penial retractor muscle attached; penis tubular and with two constrictions along its length; flat, conic papilla in central section of penis; short, thick oviduct; short vagina ~2x oviduct in width and with interior longitudinal folds; flat papilla in upper part of vagina; spermatheca irregular and slightly pointed, with a duct shorter than itself; short, cylindrical atrium; accessory glands appear like small rolls around vagina and spermatheca duct, and each has its own short, thin duct; spermathophore yellow to orange and long with a thin section covered with spines/hooks and a thick section with hooked spines only on one side (Wiktor 1987).
Very similar to T. totevi, but the latter is spotted, and they have distinct spermatophores; T. cretica also has smaller accessory glands around the vagina, larger atrium, and penis shorter (Wiktor et al. 1994).
Preserved to 85 mm long, 15 mm wide, mantle 22 mm long (Wiktor 1987).
Greece: S continental part to Parnassus Mts, Peloponnisus Peninsula, Greek Ids including Crete, Karpathos, Rhodes (Wiktor et al. 1994).
To 1700 m altitude; in thickets ("maquis") of oak, phrygaena, Euphorbia; old agricultural land, limestone, disturbed habitat; under rocks (Wiktor 1987; Wiktor et al. 1994).
