Tandonia (Tandonia) rustica (Millet, 1843)
Tandonia kusceri.
External: Whitish body that varies in tint from brown to pink to violet, and appearing when alive "to be covered with a white powder"; always with fine black spots throughout, and with black streaks on mantle and sides; strong keel; cream sole and keel; thick, clear mucous, turning milky white when perturbed (Wiktor 1996).
Internal: Vas deferens much thinner than and distinct from epiphallus; long epiphallus 2-3x penis length, undifferentiated from the penis; ornamented papilla in penis; small retractor at approximate apex of penis; oviduct and penis of approximately same width; long spermatheca with pointed end; spermatheca duct shorter than spermatheca and with a wide middle part; clumps of accessory glands around vagina; short atrium (Wiktor 1987, 1996).
Similar to T. kusceri but is longer, with creamy body color and black spots; long spermatheca with a narrow apex; shorter epiphallus (Wiktor 1983).
To 100 mm long extended; preserved: to 45 mm long, 12 mm wide, mantle 12 mm long (Wiktor 1996).
Continental S-Central Europe, with its furthest extend in SE France, Italy (to central Appenines), SW Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia (Wiktor 1996).
Deciduous and mixed forest, but often in refuse dumps and similar disturbed habitat; associated with calcareous habitat, rock rubble, old ruins; under rocks and leaf litter (Wiktor 1987, 1996).
May live to 3 years (Wiktor 1987).
