Biology:
The genus Tandonia has an estimated 30 species, with the highest diversity in the Balkans (Wiktor 1996).
Morphology:
External: Thinner body than Milax; fairly cylindrical body, suddenly narrowing at the posterior end; keel entire or partial length of dorsum (Wiktor 1983; Schileyko 2003).
Internal: Kidney does not cover heart auricle (Schileyko 2003); short penis and long epiphallus; multiple accessory glands connect to vagina rather than atrium; small atrium without stimulator (Wiktor 1983).
Size:
To 95 mm long preserved (Wiktor 1987).
Distribution:
Balkan Peninsula (SE Europe), W and Central Europe, Crimea, Asia Minor, N Africa (Wiktor 1996; Schileyko 2003).
