Milax verrucosus Wiktor, 1969
Milax verrucosus's morphology is adapted to life underground (Wiktor 1987).
External: Small mantle, 1/6-1/7 extended live body length; worm-like body; white to cream body, sometimes with blue-gray dorsum, and no markings; dark tentacles; uniquely papillate mantle; moderate keel along entire length of dorsum; thick, shiny, transparent mucus (Wiktor 1983, 1987).
Internal: Very small spermoviduct and large albumin gland; vas deferens, epiphallus, and penis all form one undifferentiated, short tube; thin penial retractor muscle; oviduct equal in length to vas derens+epiphallus+penis, and widening toward its base; spermatheca small and ovate with a duct equal in length to oviduct; wing-shaped accessory gland connected by one duct to atrium; no atrial stimulator (Wiktor 1983, 1987). Simple genital anatomy is probably a result of Milax verrucosus's underground habits (Wiktor 1983).
To 35 mm long extended; to 28 mm long and 4 mm wide preserved (Wiktor 1983).
Bulgaria (central Stara Planina Mts.) (Wiktor 1983).
Around 1000 m, in valleys; deciduous and mixed forest with undergrowth; under calcareous rocks, in leaf litter, and subterranean; also found in caves (Wiktor 1983, 1987).
