Gigantomilax (Vitrinoides) monticola (O. Boettger, 1881)
Morphology:
External: Mantle <1/3 body length; brown body with darker brown mantle with a horseshoe band, and light keel; sides below mantle and sole cream; body darkens with age; coarse skin wrinkles; mantle with a slight angle posteriorly; little pneumostome (Schütt 2010).
Internal: Short atrium; wide penis with internal "circular roll”; short and wide vas deferens (Schütt 2010).
Subspecies: G. monticola armeniacus has genital and right tentacle retractor muscles cross, G. monticola monticola does not; there are no other differences (Schütt 2010).
Juveniles: Cream color (Schütt 2010).
Size:
Large and thick; preserved: 47 mm long, 11 mm wide (Schütt 2010).
Distribution:
Caucasus Mountains; Turkey (Schütt 2010).
Habitat:
Foothills and mountains (Schütt 2010).
